Report

The U9s earnerd a well deserved point at the home of the Warren Jaguars on Sunday. On a warm, spring-like day the game also saw Milad make an impressive debut for the team.

Wayne stayed with the standard formation which saw:
Goalkeeper - Sam
Defence - Tyrese and Kieron
Midfield - Dante and Jack
Attack - Alex and Milad

From the kick-off Warren went straight onto the attack and Sam had to pull off an early save within the first minute.

After 6 minutes Alex and MIlad combined well only to see Milad shot just wide. The game ebbed and flowed in the middle of the pitch with each goalkeeper seeing little action.

That changed in after 9 minutes when Sam was called upon to make the first serious save. A long shot was headign for the far corner but Sam managed to parry it away and then react to clear the ball from the advancing Warren forward.

Wandle hit back and some good wing play by Alex saw the Warren defence called into action. The first half was very even with each side having periods of domination. After 20 minutes Alex had a shot well saved by the Warren goalkeeper and just before the break Warren had a header just over from a long range free-kick.

HALF TIME - Warren 0 - 0 Wandle Wanderers

No formation changes were made at half-time and the match continued to be very even. After 9 minutes a long through ball caught the Wandle defence out. Sam rushed from the goal to meet the ball a split second before the Warren forward. The clearance hit the forward and dribbled just wide of the post.

Warren had the majority of the possession in the 2nd half but Wandle kept the Warren defence busy with breaks from Alex and Milad. Dante and Jack were pressuring the Warren midfield while Tyrese and Kieron were blocking any advances from the Warren forwards.

Mid-way through the 2nd half Warren broke free and Wandle were faced with a Warren forward in on goal with only Sam to beat. Suddenly Tyrese stretched out a long leg and made a wonderful goal saving tackle.

Wandle then put presseure on the home side and forced a series of corners. Milad forced a good save from the Warren keeper and as the game moved into its final stages Alex was denied a shot on goal by a fine tackle from a Warren defender.

The ref blew the final whistle with the deadlock intact. Everyone has contributed to an excellent performance. Sam was awarded man of the match for some good saves and kiciking but everyone player deserved praise for their hard work and effort. Milad made a fine debut and competition for places will be hotting up as Neo and Rashaun return to the squad for the home game next Sunday.
